The New York Mets' offseason search for their next manager has reached the final three.
Mets are starting the 2nd round of managerial interviews today with the race narrowed down to Buck Showalter (the favorite), Joe Espada (Billy Eppler likes him, also a candidate for A’s job) and Matt Quatraro (Rays bench coach, interviewed for A’s job)

It was reported last week that Showalter is the preferred choice of new Mets ace Max Scherzer. It's also been widely said that the 65-year-old is considered to be the current favorite for the gig.
Per Ragazzo, the Mets began conducting their first round of interviews on Dec. 6. Showalter has 20 years of MLB managerial experience, leading the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers and, most recently, the Baltimore Orioles from 2010 through 2018.
The Mets finished the 2021 season at 77-85 and haven't made the playoffs since 2016.
